All the cars I desire the most where all available new in 2004 and none of the stuff of today really gets me all that excited.
Here is a list of the cars I’d buy right away if I won a decent amount of cash.
Daily Driver: 2nd gen Cadillac Escalade SWB in Diamond White
Weekend toy: 2003-2007 Viper SRT10 in Red
Severe weather vehicle: Hummer H2 in Burgundy
Errand runner/hardware store vehicle: Ram SRT-10 Reg Cab in Red
This is literally my dream garage. I know I’m stuck way in the past and the only thing that can explain it is because I just started driving around this time so these were the vehicles I dreamed of owning and I guess it never really went away. Nothing that is sold today catches my eye quite like these do.
Lucky for me these are all now reasonably cheap and I could literally buy all of 4 these for under 100K

But the Escalade is probably every bit as capable as the H2?

I’ve always had a sick desire to buy an Escalade EXT (the Avalanche twin) and use it for general farm truck duties. Just because.

I know but I love the H2 so I had to give myself a reason to get one.
Severe weather vehicle penis compensator

That truck... So awesome

Will all of them rolling on DUBs?

Mid-2000s will go down in history as one of the best eras for cars, ever. Not too much tech, plenty of horsepower, decent economy. The newest tech isn’t making things much safer, just more intrusive, expensive, and distracting.

I’d much rather have a 5 cylinder/5 speed manual H3, but to each their own.

Escalade on 20's to keep it period correct
H2 on 24" rockstars with aggressive treads, stock suspension height. Just because that’s how I like it.
Viper and Viper truck to remain 100% stock

I 100% agree. That’s when super cars were super cars. Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT, Mercedes SLR Mclaren, ect. All these were All muscle without all of the useless tech. I don’t need lane departure assist because the car has a steering wheel. Auto braking? last time I checked those cars had a brake pedal too.

Swap the Viper for a 2004 Z06 24hrs Edition, the H2 for an Excursion diesel, and that’s my dream garage... I feel like the mid-2000's were the peak of car technology before the manufacturers started adding all the driver assists and other crap I don’t want...

I thought that 22's were the norm in 2004. 20's look damn good on the Escalade. The Hummer look good also.

I actually almost bought one of those a few years back. I think it was in 2010 I had found a low miles 2006 Base H3 Manual for $16,000. I wanted it but I wasn’t in a position to make it happen.

I think 22's really Became popular closer to 2006. I remember 02-03 if you had 20's you were ballin’
When the 3rd gen ram 1500 truck came out and had 20's from the factory everyone went nuts

2005 and 2006 are the first years I go to when looking for a car.

Unfortunately, tourists (Italians) from North Jersey and New York have been invading the “shore” a lot longer.

Those were simpler times.. Nowdays people would be rolling in 30's which is too big in my opinion

I agree what a time it was to be alive. I remember back them being so excited about all these cars and now when something new comes out we are always disappointed since it’s worst that we imagined and usually much more expensive than what we would be willing to pay. Cars now are always duller than anticipated. Oh look a new escalade... WHAT??? that fucking SUV cost 100K??? How???
Back then the RAM SRT-10 came out and it was $48K I was like “Damn! that’s not that bad”.( That would be $60K in today’s money for a V10 brand new Viper powered Truck.) If they made the same thing today it would probably be closer to 80K.

30's? Try 34's!

I'd take a ESV myself, and my hummer would be a different color, but good list none the less.

Nah. Too big for me. I’d go 24's max on a Same era Navigator. Always like the Navigator. Black with Chrome wheels. Just nice

Out of curiosity what color would you chose?
![]() 03/24/2016 at 12:15 |

Agreed!! The only cars that have really sparked my imagination lately are the Alfa 4C (too expensive), GT350R (WAY too expensive), ND Miata, and the Focus RS. Everything else just seems neutered compared to their older counterparts... And usually, these days, you can buy any last-gen used car, modify it to the 9's and have something faster and cheaper than any of the brand new offerings.
i.e. Buy a 2007-2009 GT500, stage 4 package, suspension mods, and new tires. You’ll be into it for 50K and you can smoke hellcats...
![]() 03/24/2016 at 12:27 |

Even look at the ND Miata. STARTS at 35K in Canada. The Focus RS will set you back 50K by the time it’s all said and done. Absolutely RIDICULOUS!
For the Price of 1 Ford Focus RS I can buy a Viper AND an Escalade both with very low miles and in GREAT condition.
You would be way better off too since there would be no compromises the Escalade will be uber comfortable and you can haul around your family and the Viper will be your harsher fun car.
I imagine the Focus RS even tho it has 4 doors would not be the best family car and probably terrible on a long road trip.

I feel the same way,
not all exactly 2004, but all available 2003-2005, my short list of cars if I came across a bunch of money includes:
For Daily Duties-
Mk4 R32
E39M5
For weekend drives -
NB Mazdaspeed Miata
Ford GT
F430 Ferrari
Lotus Elise/Exige

While I do not share your taste for the flashy, I agree with your reasoning.
![]() 03/24/2016 at 13:11 |

Precisely! The only reason I’d buy a new Miata is because it’s the only one I can fit in... (I’m a hefty 6'2" lol) Though I’m sure these new cars are great, they’re just too overpriced, and they don’t pull at my heart strings the way I need them to.
HOWEVER, the GT350R is the great exception to the rule... Friggin LOVE that thing!

Thats because most new cars today look like shit. IE the new prius and most honda and toyota cars

Same color as Chris Moltisanti’s

NICE! I didn’t even know they came in that color.

Sage green metallic

I don’t hate it. Burgundy is still my favorite but If I found an H2 for the right price that was that color I would take it over the burgundy.
Money talks but I will NOT buy Red, Yellow or blue.
